Buffalo, NY – A cold front moving through Western New York will generate some scattered showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon, with rain tapering off by 5 PM today, according to the National Weather Service.

The front, which began advancing this morning, will continue to bring occasional rain and thunder to the region. By 5 PM, much of the rain will have cleared out, leaving behind cooler, less humid air. Temperatures, which reached the low 80s in some areas this morning, will drop into the 70s as the front moves through.

“Expect temperatures to begin dropping after the front passes, with more comfortable, less sticky conditions settling in tonight,” the NWS said in a statement. Dew points, which have hovered in the 60s to low 70s, will fall significantly into the 50s by evening.

Impacted areas include Buffalo, Rochester, and areas along I-90, especially west of Syracuse. Travelers along highways and roads in these regions should anticipate brief heavy rain and reduced visibility before the system clears.

Be prepared for milder evening temperatures and lower humidity tonight, with a cooler start to Monday.
