Buffalo, N.Y. – A secondary cold front is sliding across western New York today, bringing clouds and light to moderate rain showers across much of the region. The most widespread rain will fall late Saturday morning into the early afternoon, particularly in the Southern Tier and Genesee Valley.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, rainfall totals will generally range between 0.10 and 0.25 inches, with only spotty light showers expected closer to the Niagara Frontier. Forecasters note conditions will remain cloudy through the day with temperatures topping out in the upper 60s across lower elevations and low 60s across higher terrain.

Winds will stay light during the morning before shifting southwest and picking up to 10 to 20 mph this afternoon. Drivers in Chautauqua, Allegany, and Livingston counties may encounter reduced visibility during the heaviest showers, though flooding is not anticipated.

The National Weather Service advises residents to keep umbrellas and rain jackets handy, especially through early afternoon, before drier conditions return this evening.

Showers taper off by Saturday night, with a drier and more comfortable stretch expected to start Sunday.
