Buffalo, NY – Western New York residents are in for a cold night as temperatures dip into the 20s and low 30s through Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, skies will begin to clear overnight, but lingering snow showers are expected east of Lake Ontario. Areas including Tug Hill and the western Adirondacks could see light snow accumulations, adding a slick layer to roads by early morning. The weather alert remains in effect from 8 p.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday.
Winds will also play a factor, with gusts reaching 30 mph early in the evening before subsiding overnight. Cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, and Jamestown will experience lows in the mid-20s, making for a noticeably colder night compared to earlier in the week.
Drivers in snow-prone areas should use caution during morning commutes, especially in locations where cloud cover lingers. Residents are advised to bundle up and limit exposure during peak cold hours. While no significant snowfall is expected, slick spots may develop.
This cold snap marks a notable dip below seasonal averages, especially for mid-April, and follows a brief stretch of milder spring conditions.
