Buffalo, NY – February kicks off with wintry conditions as snow and icy roads threaten travel across Western New York. Sunday could bring up to an inch of snow, with freezing conditions overnight.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will continue dropping into the teens Saturday night, allowing wet roads to freeze. Snow is expected to begin Sunday afternoon, with wind gusts up to 20 mph reducing visibility. Motorists should prepare for slippery conditions, particularly on untreated roads and sidewalks.
Sunday night will bring an additional chance for light snow showers, with lows around 22°F. Monday could see mixed precipitation, with rain and snow possible in the afternoon. Highs will reach near 40°F before dipping back into the 20s overnight.
Looking ahead, mostly cloudy conditions persist through midweek, with highs hovering in the 30s. Another round of snow showers is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Residents should plan for changing road conditions and allow extra travel time. Officials urge drivers to slow down and use caution, especially overnight when ice will be a primary concern.
