Buffalo, NY – Residents in Western New York should prepare for a wet and potentially stormy period as tropical moisture moves into the region tonight, bringing significant rainfall and a Flood Watch for several counties. The National Weather Service in Buffalo has indicated that the heaviest rainfall is expected from tonight through Friday, particularly in areas east of the Genesee Valley.
According to the latest forecasts, rainfall amounts could range from 0.5 to 2 inches across the region, with higher amounts possible in localized areas. The heaviest rain is expected to arrive late Thursday night into Friday morning, coinciding with an increased risk of flooding, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
The flood watch will be in effect from 2 a.m. Friday through 2 a.m. Saturday. During this period, residents should be vigilant and prepared for rapidly changing weather conditions, including potential road closures and hazardous driving conditions due to water accumulation.
Looking ahead to the weekend, cooler temperatures are expected to follow the storm, with highs in the low 70s and breezy conditions on Saturday and Sunday. The weather will gradually improve early next week, with partly sunny skies and temperatures returning to the mid to upper 70s by Monday and Tuesday.
