Buffalo, NY – Hazy conditions and unseasonably high temperatures will grip Buffalo and much of Western New York through Thursday, with afternoon highs soaring near 90°F and air quality concerns lingering across the region. The latest push of summer heat comes as stagnant air and widespread haze reduce visibility and raise health risks, especially for those with respiratory conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, haze will persist across Buffalo and surrounding areas overnight into Monday, with an Air Quality Alert in place due to elevated particle pollution. Daytime highs will climb from the low 80s on Monday to the mid-to-upper 80s by Wednesday and Thursday. Light south and southwest winds will offer little relief, and overnight lows will stay in the mid-60s, keeping homes and apartments warm through the night.
Residents in Erie and Niagara counties should take precautions by limiting time outdoors during the hottest part of the day, staying hydrated, and checking on vulnerable neighbors. While no major storms are forecast, reduced visibility may impact travel along the I-90 corridor and other key routes, particularly during early morning and evening hours.
These hazy, warm conditions are expected to continue until at least Thursday night. The National Weather Service will issue updates if conditions worsen or additional advisories are needed.
