Bennington, VT – Western New England is under continued winter weather alerts through Monday evening as bands of snow move across the region, bringing light but steady accumulations. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Albany reports that Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect where travel could become slick, particularly in elevated and rural areas of Vermont and western Massachusetts.
According to the NWS, most of western New England — including Bennington, Pittsfield, and portions of southern Vermont — can expect 1 to 2 inches of additional snowfall through 7 PM Monday. Some locations in higher terrain may experience slightly higher amounts as lake-effect and synoptic snow combine.
Forecasters note that snowfall intensity will vary by location, with lighter totals of under 1 inch possible closer to the Albany metro and the lower Hudson Valley. Meanwhile, the southern Green Mountains and the southwestern edge of the Adirondacks, closer to the New York border, remain the most likely to see travel impacts.
Road conditions may become slippery, especially during the morning and evening commute periods. The NWS advises drivers in western New England to use caution on untreated roads, secondary routes, and hilly terrain as temperatures hover near freezing.
Snowfall is expected to taper off Monday night as the system exits the region and colder air filters in behind it. Light lake-effect snow showers may linger into early Tuesday in parts of Vermont and western Massachusetts.
Residents are encouraged to follow updated forecasts and advisories as conditions evolve.
