Reno drivers could face wet pavement and gusty winds along I-580 by late Monday as September ends with stormy weather. The National Weather Service warns scattered thunderstorms may bring heavy rain and 25 mph wind gusts across western Nevada, affecting commutes and outdoor plans. Officials urge drivers to slow down and give extra distance on highways, especially where visibility may drop in passing showers.

According to the National Weather Service in Reno, showers and storms are most likely after 11 a.m. Monday. Highs will fall to the low 70s, marking a cooler shift from the weekend. Southwest winds will strengthen into the afternoon, increasing travel concerns on exposed highways like I-80 and U.S. 395.

Sunday will see a brief warm-up near 80 degrees, but storm chances return quickly Monday and linger into midweek. A 30 percent chance of showers continues Tuesday before skies gradually clear. Temperatures will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s through Thursday, signaling a crisp fall pattern as October begins Wednesday.

Residents should secure outdoor items, charge devices in case of isolated outages, and plan for delays during Monday’s storm window. More showers may develop Wednesday night, keeping conditions unsettled.

Warnings remain in effect for possible thunderstorms Monday, with additional advisories possible as the week unfolds.
