North Platte, NE – Residents in parts of western Nebraska should prepare for a chilly night ahead as a Frost Advisory takes effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. MDT Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in North Platte.
The advisory covers Sheridan, Garden, and Western Cherry Counties, including the communities of Gordon, Rushville, Oshkosh, Merriman, Cody, Lewellen, and Kilgore. Forecasters warn that temperatures may dip to around 32°F, leading to widespread frost formation by early morning.
According to the NWS, frost could harm or kill sensitive vegetation, including flowers, gardens, and unprotected crops. Homeowners and farmers are urged to cover plants or move them indoors before temperatures drop overnight.
The frost is expected to develop during the early morning hours and lift shortly after sunrise as temperatures gradually rise.
