Missoula, MT – Several western Montana regions remain under a Winter Weather Advisory until noon MST Tuesday, as a widespread round of wet snow continues to create hazardous travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Missoula.

The advisory includes the Kootenai/Cabinet Region, West Glacier Region, Flathead and Mission Valleys, Lower Clark Fork Region, and the Potomac/Seeley Lake Region. Forecasters report snow accumulations ranging from 1 to 2 inches in most areas, with up to 5 inches possible above 4,000 to 4,500 feet, particularly at Marias Pass and Lookout Pass.

According to meteorologists, motorists should expect slick, slushy roads and reduced visibility along key travel routes including Highway 93 (Eureka to Whitefish), Highway 2 (Kalispell to Libby), Highway 83 (Seeley Lake to Swan Lake), and Interstate 90 (Lookout Pass to Bearmouth). Commuters across Flathead, Lincoln, Sanders, and Missoula counties could experience delays, especially during the Tuesday morning drive.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and use caution, especially when crossing mountain passes or shaded areas where icy patches may linger. Updated road conditions are available by calling 511 or visiting the Montana Department of Transportation website.

Snow is expected to taper off by midday, followed by gradual clearing and near-freezing afternoon temperatures.
