Kansas City, MO – Western Missouri residents should prepare for a mix of severe weather conditions, including isolated thunderstorms and high temperatures, as the week progresses. Kansas City will experience a high of 100 degrees on Monday, with dangerous heat indices expected to exceed 100 degrees from Saturday through early next week.

According to the US National Weather Service Kansas City, isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, with some storms potentially becoming severe. Damaging winds are the main threat. This pattern of isolated thunderstorms is expected to continue through tonight and again on Friday afternoon and evening.

The heat will intensify over the weekend. Saturday will see a high of 96 degrees, with a heat index of 102. Sunday’s forecast predicts temperatures reaching 98 degrees, with heat indices climbing to 105. By Monday, the temperature will peak at 100 degrees, with heat indices possibly reaching 110.

Residents are advised to take precautions against the extreme heat, such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable populations like the elderly and children.

The hot and humid conditions are expected to persist into early next week, although a slight cooldown is anticipated by Wednesday, with a forecasted high of 83 degrees and a 40% chance of showers. By Thursday, temperatures should further drop to 84 degrees, offering some respite from the intense heat.
