Kansas City, MO – Western Missouri is preparing for potential flooding as thunderstorms are expected to hit the area late Saturday through Monday. The US National Weather Service in Kansas City, Missouri, has forecasted pleasant weather for today, with highs mainly in the 80s. However, storm chances will increase later tonight, continuing through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, river flooding along the Missouri River and several streams and creeks in west-central and central Missouri is ongoing due to heavy rainfall earlier this week. Residents are advised to avoid driving in floodwaters and to heed any road closures in place.

While the threat for severe weather is low, locally heavy rainfall cannot be ruled out, particularly on Sunday night. Expected rainfall through Monday varies across the region, with amounts ranging from 0.25 to 1.15 inches. Sunday is predicted to have a 40% chance of rain, with a high of 85°F, while Monday’s high will be around 82°F with scattered thunderstorms.

The extended forecast shows relatively mild weather, with temperatures in the mid-80s and mostly clear skies from Tuesday onward. Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be sunny with highs of 84°F, followed by partly cloudy conditions on Thursday and Friday, with highs remaining in the mid-80s.
