GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A stretch of late-summer heat will grip West Michigan, but not before a round of scattered thunderstorms moves in Saturday afternoon. Temperatures will climb well into the 80s each day through much of next week, keeping conditions warm and dry after the storm risk passes.
According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, showers and thunderstorms could develop after 2 p.m. Saturday, with a 40% chance of rain and storms before tapering off in the evening. A few storms may produce brief downpours, though severe weather is not expected. Skies clear quickly overnight, setting up a hot and sunny stretch that lasts through at least Thursday.
Drivers along I-96 and US-131 may see wet roads and brief visibility issues Saturday afternoon, especially near Grand Rapids, Holland, and Muskegon. Outdoor events should be monitored for quick weather changes before improving by Sunday.
Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activity as highs climb into the upper 80s Sunday through midweek. Clear skies at night will offer some relief with lows near 60 degrees.
The storm window closes Saturday evening, and no further rain chances are in sight until late next week.
