Western Michigan – Early morning tornado warnings are a rare occurrence in Western Michigan, but last week’s 8 a.m. alert was a stark reminder that tornadoes can strike at any time of day. According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, this was only the third time since 1998 that a tornado warning was issued during these early hours. Most tornado warnings in the region typically occur between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., making last week’s event an unusual one.

As residents remain mindful of tornado risks, today’s weather offers a calm contrast with mostly sunny skies and highs between 80 and 85 degrees. Winds will be light and variable, making for a pleasant day across the area.

However, the weather pattern is set to change as the week continues. Rain is expected to move in on Thursday, bringing a 55% chance of showers and cooler temperatures with a high of 73 degrees. Friday will continue this trend with a 45% chance of rain and highs near 79 degrees.

The weekend will see temperatures dip further into the mid-70s, with a mix of clouds and sun on Saturday, and another potential round of rain on Sunday. By Monday, conditions are expected to stabilize with sunny skies and highs around 79 degrees, offering a more settled start to the new week.
