Grand Rapids, MI – Lake effect snow showers will persist across western Michigan, creating slick travel conditions on Sunday and Monday. Drivers should exercise caution, particularly along US-131, where localized heavier snowfall is anticipated. Temperatures will hover between 29 and 33 degrees, with wind chills dipping into the teens.

According to the National Weather Service, most areas will see less than half an inch of snow Sunday. However, areas south and west of Grand Rapids could experience heavier, localized bands resulting in accumulations of up to two inches. These conditions may persist into Monday afternoon, with snow showers likely to impact commutes and road conditions.

Monday’s high will reach 34 degrees, with snow expected to intensify after 1 p.m. A northwest wind of 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, will exacerbate hazardous driving conditions.

Looking ahead, snow showers will linger into Tuesday, with highs near 34 degrees. On Wednesday, a mix of rain and snow is expected, with highs reaching 36. Temperatures will drop sharply overnight, with lows in the low 20s through midweek.

Residents are encouraged to plan for slower travel times, especially during peak commute hours. Keep an eye on local weather updates and consider delaying non-essential travel during periods of heavier snow.
