Cold air bites across western Michigan this morning, and frost clings to rooftops in Grand Rapids. Thermometers sit near 25 degrees, and wind chills hover in the teens. Any leftover moisture on bridges along I-96 and US-131 could turn slick early. Slow down on elevated ramps.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids, a slight chance of drizzle develops between late morning and mid-afternoon. Highs reach 43 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Winds stay light, limiting widespread issues, but shaded pavement may stay cold.

Skies clear tonight with lows dropping to 26 degrees. That sets the stage for a brighter Wednesday. Highs rebound to 53 degrees with decreasing clouds, offering a brief taste of March moderation.

Rain chances return Wednesday night and increase sharply Thursday. Showers become likely Thursday afternoon with an 80 percent chance of rain and highs near 49 degrees. Gusts could reach 20 mph. By Friday, temperatures surge to 63 degrees with showers likely after 1 p.m.

Saturday stays mild with highs near 62 and additional showers possible. No significant snow is expected, but this is prime time for flash freezing if evening temperatures fall quickly after rainfall. Monitor sidewalks and overpasses after sunset.
