In northern areas, lake effect snow bands are producing brief but intense whiteout conditions, further reducing visibility.
Officials are advising motorists to reduce speed, allow extra stopping distance, and remain vigilant, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and untreated surfaces where ice is more likely to form. Drivers are also reminded to move over well ahead of emergency responders attending to accidents.
