Manzanillo, Colima – Boaters and offshore crews along the Colima and Jalisco coasts are facing dangerous marine conditions tonight as tropical storm warnings remain in effect, with severe winds and rapidly building seas expected through early Saturday. According to the National Hurricane Center, tropical storm conditions will intensify Thursday, with winds increasing from 25 to 60 knots and seas building to 8–12 feet by Friday morning within 250 nautical miles of the coast. Scattered thunderstorms, poor visibility, and shifting winds from southeast to southwest will make navigation hazardous from tonight through Friday night.
Vessels operating near Colima, Jalisco, Michoacán, and the Revillagigedo Islands are urged to stay in port or avoid exposed waters, as sudden squalls and steep waves could endanger small boats and commercial traffic alike. Mariners should check communications equipment, secure loose gear, and monitor updated warnings from the NHC before attempting any passage. Tropical storm watches may persist through Saturday, with conditions gradually improving by late weekend.
Storm alerts could be extended or updated, especially if the system strengthens or tracks closer to shore. Mariners should remain vigilant for further advisories through Saturday morning.
