Paducah, Ky. – Western Kentucky’s ongoing drought could finally see relief as daily rain chances build through the weekend and into next week. After days of highs in the 90s, cooler temperatures in the low to mid-80s are expected to arrive by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday afternoon, with rain chances increasing Sunday and continuing into early next week. Storms may bring localized downpours that could help ease dry conditions but also create brief travel hazards.

Communities across western Kentucky, including Paducah, Murray, and Mayfield, should prepare for possible slick roads during heavier rainfall. Outdoor events may also see disruptions as showers linger into the evening hours. Forecasters note that while severe weather is not the primary concern, gusty winds and lightning remain possible in stronger storms.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware, especially if planning weekend travel. Charging devices and having alternate indoor activities ready is recommended in case of storm delays.

Daily rain chances remain in place through at least midweek, with highs trending cooler in the low to mid-80s. Additional advisories could be issued if storms strengthen.
