PADUCAH, Ky. – A chilly night with patchy frost will give way to a stretch of dry, warmer weather across western Kentucky this week, before showers and possible thunderstorms return by Friday. The National Weather Service in Paducah reports that a light freeze is possible across much of the region overnight Sunday, officially marking the end of the growing season.

According to the Weather Service, skies will remain clear overnight with lows dipping into the upper 20s and low 30s, leading to frost formation in rural areas. Monday will start a gradual warming trend as sunshine dominates and highs reach the low 60s. Temperatures will continue to climb through midweek, peaking near 70 degrees by Wednesday and Thursday.

Forecasters expect the next chance of rain to arrive late Thursday night into Friday, when a cold front sweeps through the Ohio Valley. This front may bring a few thunderstorms before cooler, drier air moves back in for next weekend.

Residents are urged to protect any sensitive outdoor plants or plumbing from the overnight chill and to prepare for a shift to more unsettled weather at week’s end. Despite the late-week front, overall rainfall totals are expected to remain light.
