Paducah, KY – A strong blast of frigid air will move into western Kentucky early next week, bringing the coldest temperatures of the season so far.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, temperatures will drop well below freezing beginning late Sunday night, with overnight lows in the low to mid-20s Monday morning and similar readings expected Tuesday morning. Wind chills could fall as low as 12 to 20 degrees, creating widespread cold stress conditions for those outdoors.

Forecasters warn of a hard freeze across much of the region, which may impact unprotected pipes, outdoor plants, and late-season agricultural operations. Residents are encouraged to prepare winter gear and take precautions for pets, vehicles, and any sensitive plumbing ahead of the freeze.

While showers and a few thunderstorms are possible Friday, mainly in western Kentucky, the weekend looks drier before the cold front arrives late Sunday. Temperatures will remain near freezing for much of early next week before gradually moderating midweek.
