A few snowflakes still spin in the air over Paducah, Kentucky, this morning, dusting windshields and slicking bridges as a brief winter tease settles in. Drivers should take it slow on elevated surfaces, where flash freezing could create early slick spots before conditions dry out by midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Monday starts cold and gray with temperatures hovering in the low 30s, then gradually clearing toward a high near 40°F. A quick warmup is expected Tuesday and Wednesday as southerly winds return, pushing highs into the upper 40s to mid-50s — a welcome but short-lived break before another cold push slides in late week.

Forecasters note that while no major snow accumulation is expected, early morning frost and damp surfaces could cause slippery travel for local commuters. “The pattern this week will stay active, with another potential cold shot by Friday,” meteorologists said.

Heading into the weekend, lows will plunge again into the mid-teens, signaling the start of a more sustained December chill across the Ohio Valley and lower Midwest.

Five-Day Outlook (Paducah, KY):

  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high near 50°F.
  • Wednesday: Partly sunny, high near 54°F.
  • Thursday: Mostly cloudy, high 42°F.
  • Friday: Partly cloudy, colder, high near 40°F.
  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, morning lows in the mid-teens.
