Paducah, Ky. – Scattered thunderstorms and muggy conditions will dominate much of Kentucky today and Tuesday before a break in the humidity arrives midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, numerous showers and storms are likely today, especially in western parts of the state. A few storms may linger into Tuesday, with temperatures hovering between 88° and 93° both days. By Wednesday, drier air will move in, bringing mostly sunny skies and slightly cooler overnight lows in the upper 60s.
Cities across western and central Kentucky, including Owensboro, Mayfield, and Hopkinsville, should prepare for slick roads during commutes today and tomorrow. Outdoor plans and fireworks setup should avoid low-lying areas prone to runoff or brief flooding.
Temperatures will ramp back up beginning Thursday, with highs reaching into the mid-90s by the 4th of July weekend. Increasing humidity will make it feel even hotter, especially in Louisville and Bowling Green, where heat indices could approach triple digits.
Residents are urged to hydrate, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and monitor NWS updates. Thunderstorms may return Sunday, marking the next significant shift in weather.
