Paducah, KY – Multiple rounds of heavy rain are forecasted for Western Kentucky and Missouri from today through Friday, with the heaviest rainfall expected this afternoon and evening. The region could see between 1.5 to 3 inches of rain, primarily impacting the northern half of the Quad State area, with isolated flash flooding possible.
According to the US National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky, a heat advisory is also in effect today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. CDT. Heat index values are predicted to peak between 105°F and 110°F. Residents are advised to take precautions, such as staying hydrated and taking frequent breaks if spending time outdoors.
Scattered thunderstorms, some potentially severe, are expected this afternoon and evening. These storms may bring damaging winds and heavy rainfall, further increasing the risk of flash flooding. The primary risk period is from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Looking ahead to the Fourth of July, showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day, with heat index values ranging from the upper 90s to mid-100s. Although severe storms may occur, the likelihood decreases in the evening. Temperatures will range from 87°F to 92°F during the day, with peak heat index values from 97°F to 110°F. Evening temperatures will settle between 80°F and 85°F, dropping to 75°F to 80°F by midnight.
