Kentucky’s unsettled weather pattern continues this week, bringing daily chances of showers and thunderstorms across the region. High humidity will make it feel even warmer, with heat index readings potentially 5 to 8 degrees above the actual air temperature.

According to the US National Weather Service Paducah Kentucky, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop each afternoon and early evening through Thursday, July 17. While mornings offer lower chances of rain, residents should be prepared for afternoon activity.

Cities like Paducah, Murray, and Hopkinsville will see daily chances of precipitation ranging from 20% to 55%. Highs will gradually climb from the mid-80s on Monday to the low-90s by Thursday, with lows remaining in the upper 60s and low 70s. This combination of heat and humidity could elevate the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Across the state, including in western counties, residents should stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned spaces during peak heat, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities in the afternoon. Secure any loose outdoor items as strong winds can accompany thunderstorms. Remember to never drive through flooded roads.

The unsettled pattern is expected to continue through the week, with more advisories possible if conditions worsen.
