Paducah, Kentucky – Stormy skies could disrupt Friday afternoon plans across western Kentucky as strong thunderstorms are expected to roll through Paducah and surrounding areas, bringing heavy rain and possible travel delays along US-60 and local roadways.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, showers and thunderstorms are 90% likely Friday afternoon, beginning after 1 p.m. Winds will remain light, but rainfall may be heavy at times, especially during the evening commute. Temperatures will top out around 84°F before dropping to 70°F Friday night.

Weekend plans for Father’s Day may need adjusting. Showers and more storms are likely Saturday, particularly after 10 a.m., with another 60% chance of rain. Rain may taper slightly Saturday night, but a 40% chance of evening showers remains. Sunday brings another unsettled pattern with scattered showers and a slight chance of storms in the afternoon, mainly before 5 p.m.

Residents should avoid outdoor activities during peak rain hours, check road conditions, and prepare for wet conditions during local events. Keep phones charged and monitor alerts in case flood warnings develop in low-lying areas.

Early next week, the stormy pattern lingers. Monday and Tuesday continue with 40-50% rain chances and humid highs near 87°F. Sunshine may return midweek.
