Paducah, KY – Residents of southern Illinois and western Kentucky should prepare for hot and humid conditions as scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact the region throughout the weekend. The National Weather Service in Paducah issued an alert early this morning, indicating that thunderstorms will push east and south of the region, with the afternoon expected to be mostly dry. However, the heat and humidity will persist, with temperatures reaching into the mid-90s in some areas.

According to the NWS Paducah, a new round of thunderstorms is anticipated to develop late tonight, continuing through Saturday. These storms could become strong, particularly in the afternoon and evening, as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Temperatures will remain high on Saturday, with highs expected to range from 88 to 94 degrees, keeping the heat index near uncomfortable levels.

Sunday will bring a slight reprieve as the cold front moves through the region. A few afternoon showers may occur, but temperatures will drop to a more comfortable range of 81 to 90 degrees. The weather is expected to become more pleasant by Sunday night, offering relief from the intense heat.
