Goodland, KS – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Goodland has extended a Flood Watch until 1 p.m. Tuesday for parts of west-central Kansas following heavy overnight rainfall.
The advisory covers Logan, Gove, and Wichita counties, including communities such as Oakley, Quinter, Grainfield, Grinnell, and Leoti.
Forecasters say excessive runoff from earlier storms may lead to flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other flood-prone areas. Urban flooding and poor drainage issues are also possible, and officials caution that low-water crossings may become impassable.
The NWS advises residents and travelers to remain alert for possible Flood Warnings, which would indicate flooding is imminent or already occurring. Those in flood-prone areas should be ready to take action quickly if conditions deteriorate.
While rain is expected to taper off later in the day, localized flooding impacts may linger into Tuesday afternoon.
