Dodge City, KS – Travelers across western Kansas are being warned of dangerous driving conditions Saturday as a dense fog advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. CDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City issued the alert, cautioning that visibility may drop below one-quarter mile, creating hazardous travel conditions.

According to the NWS, motorists should take extra precautions when traveling in the affected areas. Officials recommend slowing down, avoiding the use of cruise control, and delaying travel if possible until conditions improve. Dense fog is particularly hazardous for evening and overnight drivers, when low light and limited visibility make it harder to react quickly.

The advisory covers much of western Kansas, including Dodge City and surrounding communities. Authorities warn that the thick fog may persist in low-lying areas and open stretches of highways, where drivers are most at risk.

“Small decisions can have a big impact,” the weather service noted in its alert. “Don’t let a bad decision be your last.”

Drivers are encouraged to check local forecasts and road condition updates before heading out. More information and live updates can be found at weather.gov.
