Dodge City, KS – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. CDT this morning for portions of western and central Kansas, where thick fog is significantly reducing visibility, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Dodge City.
The advisory covers Ellis, Trego, Ness, Scott, Lane, Finney, Hodgeman, and Kearny Counties, including communities such as Hays, Garden City, Scott City, Jetmore, and Wakeeney. Drivers in these areas are reporting visibility as low as one-quarter mile, creating hazardous travel conditions on highways and rural routes.
“Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous,” the NWS cautioned early Sunday. Motorists are advised to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra space between vehicles until the fog lifts later this morning.
Conditions are expected to improve by late morning as temperatures rise and visibility gradually increases. However, patchy fog could linger longer in low-lying and river valley areas.
