Carter Lake, Iowa – A short-lived heatwave will grip western Iowa and eastern Nebraska through Friday, but it won’t last long—storm chances rise again by Saturday afternoon, bringing a renewed risk of lightning and gusty winds to Carter Lake and the surrounding metro area.

According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, high temperatures will climb into the upper 90s on Thursday and Friday, with “feels-like” temperatures likely pushing triple digits. Storm chances stay low until the weekend, when isolated thunderstorms could develop late Saturday and become more widespread overnight into Sunday morning.
