Grand Junction, Colorado – Drivers crossing high mountain passes early Saturday may encounter slick conditions as a weak disturbance brings light snow to parts of western Colorado, mainly along the Continental Divide. Travel impacts are expected to be short-lived, with conditions improving later this morning as the system moves east.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, light snowfall is affecting the northern and central Colorado Divide, including higher-elevation routes such as Vail Pass. The snow is producing patchy slick spots on roadways, particularly on bridges, shaded stretches, and untreated lanes. Elsewhere across western Colorado, conditions remain dry with temperatures running above seasonal averages.

The impacts are focused on higher terrain early Saturday, while lower elevations including Grand Junction, Montrose, Delta, and Moab remain dry. Motorists traveling over mountain passes are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and remain alert for rapidly changing road conditions during the morning hours.

By late morning, snowfall is expected to taper off as the disturbance exits to the east, allowing road conditions to steadily improve. No significant accumulation is expected, and widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated beyond the early hours.

Looking ahead, a mostly dry and unseasonably warm pattern is expected to dominate through the weekend and into much of next week. No additional winter weather hazards are currently expected, but travelers should continue to monitor updates if plans include mountain travel early today.
