Grand Junction, Colorado – A stretch of mild, dry January weather is settling in across western Colorado, giving the region a springlike feel through midweek before temperatures trend closer to seasonal levels by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, daytime highs will continue to run above normal, climbing to around 10 to 15 degrees warmer than average by Wednesday and Thursday. Grand Junction is expected to see highs in the lower to mid-50s, while Durango and Vernal push into the low 50s. Steamboat Springs will remain cooler but still mild for January, with highs hovering near 40 degrees.

Skies will stay mostly clear with only passing clouds at times, and no precipitation is expected through the workweek. The dry conditions will make for favorable travel and outdoor conditions across Mesa County, the Western Slope, and nearby mountain valleys. Overnight lows will remain cool but not extreme, limiting concerns for icy road conditions during the mornings.

By late week into the weekend, forecasters expect temperatures to ease back toward near-normal values. Highs may dip slightly by Friday, especially in higher elevations, though dry weather is likely to continue.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the mild conditions but remain mindful that winter weather can return quickly this time of year. No watches or advisories are currently in effect, and the next meaningful pattern change will be monitored as the weekend approaches.
