GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Western Colorado wakes up to crisp air and a stretch of golden sunshine perfect for early October plans. After a cool weekend and scattered mountain showers, the state is settling into a classic fall pattern — bright, dry days and brisk, jacket-worthy mornings.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, drier air will settle across the region Monday and Tuesday, keeping skies clear and temperatures climbing back into the upper 70s. Drivers along I-70 and U.S. 50 can expect excellent visibility and dry pavement through midweek. Residents should still prepare for chilly starts, with morning lows dipping into the 40s before sunrise.

Meteorologists say this calm spell is short-lived. Moisture from the southwest is projected to increase late Thursday into Friday, bringing the next chance for scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Those planning outdoor events, park visits, or fall leaf trips in the Grand Mesa or Gunnison areas should stay alert for changing conditions heading into the weekend.

With warm afternoons and light winds, it’s also a great stretch for homeowners to finish fall yardwork or set up Halloween displays before the weather turns unsettled again. Power crews and farmers alike will welcome the mild trend after last week’s mountain chill.

Stay tuned to NWS Grand Junction and CDOT updates for any travel or safety advisories as the week unfolds.
