Dolan Springs, Arizona – Drivers along US-93 near Dolan Springs are facing life-threatening conditions Saturday evening as a fast-moving dust storm brings blinding visibility and powerful wind gusts to western Mohave County.
According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, a dust channel was detected at 5:40 p.m. MST about 16 miles northwest of Dolan Springs, pushing northwest at 20 mph with winds topping 40 mph and visibility reduced to less than a quarter mile. The Dust Storm Warning remains in effect until 6:30 p.m.
The storm’s impact is concentrated along rural stretches of US-93 between Dolan Springs and the Nevada state line, with immediate danger to motorists. Officials are urging drivers to avoid travel entirely or pull safely aside if caught in the storm. “PULL ASIDE, STAY ALIVE” remains the urgent reminder for anyone on the road.
Residents and travelers are urged to delay plans and remain indoors until conditions improve. Blowing dust can arrive suddenly and without warning in desert regions.
