Lake Havasu City, AZ – An extreme heat watch now covers much of the Colorado River Valley and Western Arizona, as life-threatening temperatures move in starting Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service warns that highs could reach 115 to 120 degrees in cities like Bullhead City, Laughlin, Needles, and Lake Havasu City, with slightly lower—but still dangerous—triple digits expected for Kingman, Golden Valley, Dolan Springs, and Twentynine Palms.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, the heat watch runs from Wednesday morning through Thursday evening, targeting the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Morongo Basin, Cadiz Basin, and San Bernardino County’s upper river region. Residents in areas such as Vidal Junction, Mohave Valley, Oatman, and Yucca are urged to avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, seek out air conditioning, and check in on elderly neighbors and family members.

Major roadways like I-40 and Highway 95 could see increased vehicle breakdowns due to overheating engines and tires. Emergency services caution against leaving children or pets in parked cars—interiors can turn deadly within minutes. Health agencies across the region are urging everyone to stay hydrated, avoid strenuous exercise outdoors, and be aware of heat exhaustion signs: heavy sweating, dizziness, and nausea.

This heat wave is forecast to last through Thursday evening, with the potential for more advisories if high temperatures linger into the weekend. Stay tuned to official updates and consider rescheduling outdoor plans until cooler weather returns.
