Charleston, WV – Snowfall and gusty winds are set to disrupt travel across parts of West Virginia beginning tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 7 p.m. Wednesday through 4 p.m. Thursday for multiple counties, including Randolph, Barbour, Webster, and Upshur.

According to the National Weather Service, these areas could see between 3 and 5 inches of snow, with wind gusts reaching 50 mph. The heaviest snowfall is expected overnight into early Thursday, potentially complicating the morning commute. Drivers should anticipate slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially on bridges and overpasses.

Power outages are also possible due to falling tree branches caused by the high winds. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor objects and prepare for potential disruptions. For those traveling, authorities recommend reducing speeds, increasing following distances, and keeping an emergency kit in vehicles.

The advisory extends to Southeast Nicholas and Western Greenbrier counties, where snow totals may range from 2 to 5 inches. Travel could become hazardous in these areas, especially on untreated roads.

Residents are urged to check the latest weather updates at weather.gov and monitor road conditions by dialing 511. Emergency preparedness actions, including stocking essentials and ensuring proper heating sources, are strongly advised ahead of the storm.
