West Virginia Winter Storm: Heavy Snow, Ice, and Strong Winds Expected

Charleston, WV – A series of winter weather advisories are in effect across West Virginia this weekend, with snow, ice, and high winds expected to create dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, a Winter Weather Advisoryis active from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday for Southeast Raleigh, Southeast Fayette, and Southeast Pocahontas counties. Mixed precipitation will bring up to half an inch of snow and two-tenths of an inch of ice, potentially leading to difficult road conditions.

A second advisory will take effect from 1 p.m. Sunday through 10 a.m. Monday for Northwest Pocahontas, Southeast Randolph, and Southeast Webster counties. This storm is forecast to bring 3 to 7 inches of snowa light glaze of ice, and wind gusts up to 60 mph, increasing the risk of power outages and tree damage.
