Charleston, WV – Strong winds will sweep across West Virginia tonight, particularly affecting higher elevations where gusts may reach 40 mph. A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. Tuesday for these areas. Residents in affected regions should secure loose items outdoors and exercise caution while driving, especially on mountain roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, Monday’s dry and sunny conditions will give way to increasing winds tonight and early Tuesday. The lowlands will experience milder breezes, with gusts between 20 to 25 mph, while temperatures are expected to remain near seasonal averages.

A gradual warming trend is forecast for the rest of the week, with highs in the mid-40s on Tuesday climbing to the low 50s by Thursday. Lowland areas will enjoy mostly sunny skies through midweek, while mountain regions may see occasional snow or mixed precipitation, with minimal accumulation.

Rain chances increase Thursday night into Friday, with an 80% likelihood of showers to end the week. Residents should prepare for wet roads and cooler weekend conditions.

Stay weather-aware this week and monitor updates for changes in the forecast, especially regarding potential rain and wind impacts.
