Charleston, WV – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of eastern West Virginia, warning of gusts up to 50 mph from Sunday evening through early Monday morning.

The advisory includes Southeast Nicholas, Southeast Webster, Northwest and Southeast Pocahontas, and Southeast Randolph counties, covering mountain communities such as Snowshoe, Marlinton, Harman, and Richwood.

Forecasters expect west winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts reaching 40 to 50 mph, strongest at higher elevations and along ridgelines. The NWS warns that tree limbs may be blown down, and isolated power outages could occur overnight.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles are urged to use extra caution on mountain highways, where gusty crosswinds could make travel difficult. Residents are also advised to secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and trash bins before winds increase this evening.

Conditions are expected to improve by early Monday morning as winds gradually diminish.
