CHARLESTON, WV – A second round of cold air is moving into West Virginia tonight, bringing gusty showers and the potential for isolated tree damage. The system will drop temperatures significantly, leading to a much cooler start to March across the region.
According to the National Weather Service, the front will push through overnight, with showers and strong winds expected. Some areas may see wind gusts over 25 mph. By Saturday morning, temperatures will drop into the mid-40s, with northwest winds keeping conditions brisk throughout the day.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy with lows near 20°F, making it one of the coldest nights of the week. Sunday remains sunny but chilly, with highs struggling to reach 38°F. Those heading outdoors should bundle up, as wind chills may make it feel even colder.
Monday brings some relief with mostly sunny skies and highs near 48°F. However, another weather system moves in Tuesday, bringing a 40% chance of rain. Showers increase midweek, with a 90% chance of rain by Wednesday and temperatures climbing to 64°F.
Drivers along I-64 and Route 60 should be cautious tonight due to wet roads and reduced visibility. Wind gusts may also impact high-profile vehicles. Residents should secure outdoor items before the front moves through.
