Heavy rain ended the workweek, leaving behind flooding and hazardous road conditions in West Virginia. Dry weather is expected this weekend and early next week, but another storm may bring more rain by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston, floodwaters have begun to recede, but roads remain wet with possible ice overnight. Rivers like the Little Kanawha, Tygart Valley, Buckhannon, and West Fork are cresting, with some expected to drop below flood stage by Sunday.

Residents should remain cautious of lingering floodwaters, debris, and potential icy patches overnight. Cooler temperatures will continue through the weekend.

Another storm system could bring significant rainfall around the middle of next week. The NWS advises monitoring updates for potential flooding and road hazards.
