Charleston, WV – The National Weather Service is forecasting an increase in showers and thunderstorms across the region starting today, with lingering impacts through Wednesday. While these storms are largely non-severe, slow-moving thunderstorms could lead to water-related issues as they repeatedly affect the same areas.
According to the National Weather Service, a low-pressure system will push northward, causing scattered showers and storms throughout the state. Conditions will continue to deteriorate Tuesday as the low-pressure area intensifies, affecting travel and outdoor plans. These storms may bring heavy rainfall, particularly to areas that experience repeated storms.
By Wednesday, the low will move east, causing a reduction in storm intensity and coverage. However, isolated rain showers may still impact parts of West Virginia. Thursday is expected to bring mostly dry conditions, though the forecast remains unsettled for the rest of the week.
A new disturbance will bring additional showers and storms to the state by Friday, continuing the wet pattern as we head into the weekend. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates, especially for potential flash flooding in areas affected by heavy rainfall.
