Charleston, West Virginia – A quiet but chilly finish to the weekend is setting the stage for a noticeable warmup across West Virginia as the new workweek begins. Dry weather dominates through Monday, offering improving conditions after several cold nights.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, cloud cover gradually thins overnight, with skies becoming partly cloudy by Sunday. While a brief sprinkle cannot be ruled out across northern sections, most areas remain dry. Another cold night settles in, with lows dipping into the teens across the higher elevations and the 20s across much of the lowlands.
Sunday brings dry but cool conditions statewide. High temperatures remain below seasonal averages, reaching the upper 20s to low 30s in the mountains and the mid to upper 30s in the lowlands, with a few southern coalfield locations edging into the low 40s. Despite the chill, clearing skies and light winds help improve daytime comfort.
A gradual warming trend takes hold Monday as the pattern shifts. Partly cloudy skies persist with no precipitation expected. Highs climb into the low to mid-40s across the lowlands, while mountain communities warm into the low 40s to near 50. Overnight lows also trend upward, easing back into the 30s.
The warmer pattern continues deeper into the week, with dry conditions favored and temperatures steadily climbing. Forecasters say additional updates will follow as the warming trend strengthens across the Mountain State.
