Huntington, WV – As West Virginia’s drought conditions continue to intensify, residents of Huntington can expect some relief with potential thunderstorms forecasted for the end of the week. The National Weather Service in Charleston warns that while most of the week will remain dry, a shift in weather patterns is expected as Friday approaches, bringing the possibility of showers and thunderstorms to the area.
According to the NWS, temperatures throughout the week will gradually rise, with low humidity maintaining a dry atmosphere until late in the week. Monday and Tuesday will see pleasant conditions with highs in the mid-80s in the lowlands and low 70s in the mountains, accompanied by low dew points and minimal cloud cover. By Thursday, temperatures will climb further, reaching highs of up to 93°F in some lowland areas, though the humidity will remain relatively low.
On Friday, however, conditions are expected to change as humidity levels increase, creating an environment conducive to afternoon showers and thunderstorms. While these storms could provide localized relief from the ongoing drought, the NWS cautions that it may not be enough to significantly alleviate the dry conditions affecting the region. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts as the week progresses.
