CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Fall’s calm, golden stretch continues across the Kanawha Valley this week, bringing cool mornings, sunny afternoons, and perfect travel weather through Friday. After a few patches of early fog, Charleston will see a steady run of clear skies and mild temperatures through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, Tuesday begins mostly sunny with highs near 72°F and light north winds. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 40s, allowing patchy fog to form before sunrise Wednesday. The fog will lift quickly, giving way to another mild and bright day with highs once again in the low 70s.

By Thursday, temperatures climb slightly into the upper 60s to near 70°F as dry high pressure settles overhead. Nights remain crisp, with lows dipping into the upper 30s to low 40s — a clear signal that Fall is in full swing. Residents across Kanawha, Putnam, and Boone Counties can expect excellent visibility for commuting, yard work, and evening outdoor activities.

Travelers on I-64, I-77, and U.S. 119 will experience smooth driving conditions and dry roads all week. The NWS notes that the next chance for rain won’t arrive until late Saturday or Sunday, when a weak system could bring scattered showers.

Until then, the Mountain State enjoys a flawless stretch of classic October weather — cool dawns, blue skies, and mild afternoons ideal for hikes, football, and fall color trips through the hills.
