Charleston, WV – West Virginia residents can expect temperatures to remain high over the weekend and into the start of next week, with a slight chance of precipitation tonight.
The heatwave, accompanied by increasing humidity, will persist, causing temperatures to feel even hotter. Daytime highs will soar into the mid-90s, with Charleston, Huntington, and Parkersburg all experiencing similar conditions.
According to the US National Weather Service, Charleston, temperatures will reach 92°F today and climb to 93°F on Saturday. By Sunday, temperatures will peak at 94°F, intensifying the sweltering conditions. Clarksburg will see highs of 89°F today, rising to 92°F on Saturday and Sunday. Elkins and Beckley will also face elevated temperatures, with Beckley seeing a high of 84°F today and rising to 89°F by Sunday.
Relief is on the horizon, however, as a cold front is expected to bring rain by the middle of next week. Tuesday will see a high of 96°F, but by Wednesday, temperatures will drop to 88°F with a 40% chance of precipitation. The cool down will continue into Thursday, with a high of 80°F and a 35% chance of rain.
