Charleston, WV – Snow and gusty winds are creating hazardous travel conditions early Saturday morning across parts of West Virginia, particularly in Pocahontas and Randolph counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, moderate to heavy snowfall is falling across Northwest Pocahontas and Southeast Randolph, including the cities of Snowshoe and Harman. Accumulations of one to two inches are expected, with temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s keeping roads slick and snow-covered.

Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are also causing blowing snow, which is reducing visibility and making travel more dangerous. Officials warn that low visibility and icy roads could lead to rapidly deteriorating conditions. Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, slow down, and allow extra time when traveling in the affected areas.

The National Weather Service advises residents to stay updated on changing conditions and prepare for potential delays. Conditions are expected to improve later in the day as the snowfall diminishes. However, lingering ice and snow accumulation may still pose hazards on untreated roads.

Drivers should remain alert and check local traffic updates before heading out. Emergency preparedness is recommended for those traveling through these areas until conditions stabilize.
