Eastern Pendleton, WV – A winter storm continues to impact Eastern Pendleton County, bringing heavy snow and dangerous ice conditions through Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 a.m. Wednesday, with additional snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches and a light glaze of ice. A new Ice Storm Warning will take effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday, with expected ice accumulations of up to one-third of an inch.

Travel conditions will be hazardous, particularly during the evening commute Tuesday, and both the morning and evening commutes Wednesday. Heavy, wet snow is expected to reduce visibility and make roads impassable, followed by a prolonged period of freezing rain Wednesday afternoon into the night.

Residents are urged to avoid travel if possible and prepare for potential power outages. If travel is necessary, officials recommend carrying an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water.
