Charleston, WV – Cooler, breezy conditions will settle across West Virginia tonight into Thursday, as strong northwest winds and clear skies bring a crisp fall feel to the region, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.
A Wind Advisory remains in effect through 1 a.m. Thursday for Southeast Randolph and Pocahontas counties, where gusts could reach 45–50 mph. Winds across the lowlands are expected to range from 25–35 mph, easing overnight as temperatures drop.
According to the National Weather Service, Thursday will be sunny but cooler, with highs ranging from the upper 50s in Charleston and Huntington to the low 50s in Elkins and Beckley. Overnight lows will fall to the low 30s across the lowlands and could dip below freezing in mountain areas.
Forecasters advise drivers to use caution on elevated roads and ridges tonight due to gusty crosswinds. Residents in higher elevations should also secure loose outdoor items before winds subside early Thursday morning.
The rest of the week will stay dry, with gradual warming expected by the weekend.
